Walk Now for Autism Speaks!

Autism Speaks is proud of our signature fundraising event which brings together hundreds of thousands of participants annually across the United States and Canada with a common goal of supporting Autism Speaks.

Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this successful grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder.

Forthcoming Nature Links Program

Negotiations have been proceeding nicely to open a Nature Links 5 day a week program in conjunction with both the City of Miami and at MIami Dade College's Miami Culinary Institute- to be located at the Wolfson Campus, and several city parks. Stay  tuned and we'll provide more information as it becomes finalized. Were excited about the prospects.

Last Day of the Fall Session and Potluck!

Saturday, December 15 was our last day of the fall session at Nature Links. We worked and harvested in the garden, took a walk with Juan Fernandez of the City of Miami Parks, made a wonderful salad and enjoyed our end of the year potluck. It was a lovely and eventful day. We also took a ride on the historic train. We look forward to re-starting our Saturdays by the Bay program next year. Stay tuned for updates.

Miami Culinary Institute gave us a wonderful tour

On Saturday December 8, 2012 we went to the Miami Culinary Institute located in Downtown Miami at the Wolfson Campus. We were given a tour of their impressive facilities by the Director, John Richards.

We got to see the wonderful view from their first-class restaurant that is on the top floor of the institute.

This is the room where they have wine tasting, cooking demonstrations and international video cooking conferences. John Richards gave the example; they could be video chatting with a farmer in Africa, a chef in Boston, a wine connoseiur in France and another culinary institute here in the U.S.

We sat in on an ice sculpture class!

Finally we took a tour of their organic garden right in the heart of Downtown Miami.

Nature Links goes for a ride on a water taxi with the "Over 21 club" ( Autism Society) December 1, 2012

On Saturday December 1, 2012 Nature Links was invited by the Autism Society to go with their “Over 21 Club” on a Water Taxi ride! We left out of Bayside where we had lunch by the water near a band that was playing. We had a lovely time and would like to send a special thanks to the Autism Society for sponsoring our participants to attend. We look forward to more outings such as this that expand social horizons for our participants.

Saturdays by the Bay October – November Update !

 Hello all,

We would like to give you a few snapshots of what we have been up to the last few Saturdays.

We have been planting:

We went to the Art Live Exhibition at the Cocnut Grove Exhibition Center: There were dance performances, interactive art pieces and free food to sample. A special thanks to the Lotus house for donating tickets to us so that we could attend.

We got a chance to interact with horses on Virginia Key! A riding club came to visit and they were very informative and kind. We learned about horses in general and some personal stories told by the owners. It was a lovely day.
