In Urban Explorers, young adults (18-30) with middle-range intellectual disabilities learn empowering life and job readiness skills necessary to survive and thrive in the urban setting, like how to navigate public transportation. In addition, students learn about local ecosystems, organic gardening, and healthy lifestyles at our home base at the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science. They visit parks, museums, and other public places of interest in Miami, developing connections and rootedness in the community. To express themselves, they build communication skills, and to share their knowledge, they create art projects with local artists and an educational videoblog series which will be posted on our YouTube channel.
